Abstract:

This paper analyses the relationship between language and personality describing some of the main functions language can play, being understood as an instrument for rational knowledge, as a device for social communication, as a means for socialization or as an inner device that let us be conscious of our personal intimacy. Nevertheless, taking into account language functions we can see some descriptive limitations that often determine the interpretative significance of the relationship between language and personality.
