Abstract:

It’s about time this book gets more attention and broader use. An ambitiously critical and idealistic exploration of the plurality of American ideals that are driving and bedeviling my poor rich nation, Gothic Perspectives On The American Experience historically surveys literary and cinematic expressions of loyal opposition to our political and cultural establishments. It is a good and very useful book. It is valuable for its opinionated selection of evidence in support of a controversial reading of our history and a challenging evaluation of our present.
