In this chapter the authors show how excess or scarcity of specific interpersonal and ideational meanings are interpreted by the clinician as atypicalities of inner experience. Our approach is to conceptualise the disorders as observable characteristics of verbal behaviour rather than as the more traditional atypicalities of inner experience.
