Blurb:

This chapter describes physiology and the aerodynamics of producing a moving stream of air in the vocal tract. It discusses the difference between an egressive and an ingressive airstream, and the location of the initiators of the airstreams used in speech. Different sound types made on the different airstreams are illustrated with the relevant phonetic symbols.
