Book: The Ultimate Guide to Great Reggae

Chapter: Peter Tosh, after The Wailers

DOI: 10.1558/equinox.25485

Blurb:

Upon departing The Wailers, Peter Tosh embarked on a highly successful solo
career that included a string of self-produced internationally successful albums
and world tours. With these, he became the world’s second-biggest-ever reggae
star, and its biggest after Bob Marley’s death. Regrettably, Peter’s career and life
would also be cut short when aged forty-three he was shot by a gunman – said
to have been a childhood friend – during a home invasion robbery on September
11, 1987. In his post-Wailers career, he released over 50 singles and seven studio
albums between 1975 and 1987, plus several more live albums.
