Abstract:

In early 1982 the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center set a course toward making interactive video an integral part of foreign language instruction. This effort is being carried on with the help of several
organizations, both civilian and military. The outcome should improve the quality of language instruction for national security and also bring interactive video technology within the grasp of many school systems, colleges, and universities throughout the nation.
