CAN COMPUTERS TEACH?

Abstract:
This article look at two mental models of the teacher, magister and pedagogue, and suggests that we may, with conventional drill-and-practice CALL, be assigning the wrong role to the computer. Several programs are described to demonstrate what the computer can do in a non-magisterial role.
