Abstract:
This article surveys the air time and attention given to Black and non-Anglo musicians in the Australian music television market, finding that mainstream, Anglo performers continue to prevail and examining some of the possible reasons for this, including the suggestion that politically and socially conservative view points resist the often radical lyrics and performance styles of rap and non-mainstream genres.
