The' Riffs' section continues Perfect Beat's commitment to on-going debates in the area of Pacific music and culture. Philpott and Seeto respond to ideas raised by Crowdy ( 1998), specifically around the PNG Contemporary style and the role of Pacific Gold Studios. Crowdy (this issue) then replies to the concerns raised by Philpott (and Greg Seeto), (re)addressing his original analyses
