Abstract:

Over a period of several months, twenty-five actors were invited to answer thequestion ‘What is acting really about?’ Eighteen out of the twenty-five replied.

Their response provides evidence for the claim that theatre is itself an inherently

spiritual medium (as well as a vehicle for explicitly religious plays), and

that the relationship of professional actors to their craft may be considered to be

implicitly religious.
