Threads /Uncommon People: The DNA of Sheffield Music is a new oral history of the bands, artists and musicians that have made Sheffield one of the most vibrant music scenes in the UK from the late 1970s until the present day.

Through dialogues and interviews, the authors will explore the post-punk sound of the ‘steel city’, its DNA, its instigators and the sonic legacy that has inspired future generations. The book will also examine the various line-up changes and original/pivotal members of key Sheffield bands, including The Human League, Pulp, Moloko, Arctic Monkeys, Def Leppard, Moloko and ABC. It will include contributions from background influencers (sound engineers/producers, former band members, filmmakers, managers etc.) and those who helped shape the sound of Sheffield's music scene.
