Chapter: 17. Resonance

DOI: 10.1558/equinox.22751

Blurb:

This chapter described free and forced vibrations in acoustics, and the concept of resonance. The resonance characteristics of complex waves are illustrated along with the ability to describe the spectra of sound waves. It is noted that peaks of amplitude in a spectrum are referred to as formants, and some basic formant differences in speech are illustrated.
