Chapter 9 explores the use of language in social media, and how these new media function to express ideas, often intertextually, and to allow new forms of interpersonal expression for participation and affiliation. We look at how the specific interactional features of social media platforms enable and constrain discourse, and can allow it to be undermined and hijacked for other agendas.
