Chapter: Looking at Learning

DOI: 10.1558/equinox.35795

Blurb:

This chapter engages educators at all stages (Preservice, Inservice, Trainers) in using video as a material to explore learning tasks as they unfold during classroom or one-to-one instruction with English language learners. These activities can be used to continue the development of descriptive observation skills, and can draw attention to how language learners approach and sustain target language use during learning tasks. Focusing on the learning here as in Chapter 4 support moving teachers away from the tendency to only look and judge themselves/other teachers on video records. Where to access such video materials from open sources on the web and how to curate it at the local level are addressed.
