Chapter: Paradoxical and existential aspects of meditation

In chapter 8, I argue that in order to make sense of meditation in early Buddhist and Chan texts one must take into account what I call paradoxical and existential aspects of meditation. I also argue that these crucial aspects are not recognized at all by the orthodox, mainstream paradigm of Buddhist meditation.
