Bacewicz continues to compose throughout World War II in Warsaw and performs her Sonata for Solo Violin at an underground concert. She gives birth to a daughter in 1942. She describes the horrors of wartime Warsaw in a letter to her brother, Vytautas. After the war, she takes a post at the Conservatoire in Łódź, teaching violin and music theory. She is voted onto the peer jury at the Musicians’ Union.
