Bacewicz serves as juror at the Long-Thibaud International Competition in Paris. In 1954 her Symphony No. 4 and ballet, The Peasant King, have their premieres. That same year she is involved in a very serious car accident that puts her in hospital for several months. In 1955 she wins several prizes and awards from the Polish Government. She is made Vice-President of the Union of Polish Composers.
