Chapter: An Early Bronze Age Basalt Bowl and Macehead from Khirbat al-‐Mudayna ath-‐Thamad

DOI: 10.1558/equinox.28917

Blurb:

During the 2010 and 2011 seasons at Khirbat al-Mudayna ath-Thamad, an Early Bronze Age basalt bowl and a piriform macehead were recovered from an Iron Age domestic context. The best parallels for these objects come from the EB I tomb assemblages at Bab adh-Dhraʿ. Given the lack of Early Bronze Age tombs in the vicinity of Mudayna Thamad, it is proposed that these objects are the product of tomb looting from the Dead Sea Plain in antiquity.
