In Chapter 6, we conduct an analysis of Xun Yin Zhe Bu Yu (寻隐者不遇) (written by JIA Dao [贾岛] in the Tang Dynasty) and its English translations in terms of verbal process and text structure. We first briefly review the relevant literature on verbal process and text structure. Then we analyze JIA Dao’s poem in these two perspectives and raise some questions worthy of investigation based on the analysis. We also analyze the English translations of this poem and discuss relevant issues identified in our analysis.
