Blurb:

In Chapter 9, we examine Jiang Xue (江雪) by LIU Zongyuan (柳宗元) and its English translations in two perspectives: (i) static and dynamic meaning as well as (ii) relationship between form and meaning. We first interpret the original poem and then examine its English translations. Then we analyze and discuss the poem and its translations. Our discussion in this chapter reveals that the static or dynamic meaning in the original is possible to be rendered equivalently in the translations.
