In 2007 we acquired the publishing assets of the Southover Press (founded by Ann Bagnall in 1987, Lewes, East Sussex) which specialized in facsimilies of historic English cookbooks. The Southover Press won a Glenfiddich Special Award in 1998.Books in the reprint series bear introductions by contemporary food historians and writers to set the authors and recipes in context and where useful, there are glossaries. Our most recent publication, Delights from the Garden of Eden, is a substantial cookbook and narrative history of one of the foundational cuisines of the Near East. We welcome proposals for books or journals that made definitive contributions to the emerging academic field of food studies, particularly from anthropological and archaeological perspectives.
